Chrysler To Go Electric By 2010!

Ok, I think it’s official…2010 is “The future.”  The reason I say this, is because every major company in every major industry is using 2010 as it’s Official launch date for whatever alternative energy or planet saving idea they have in mind.  Not 2008, not 2009, 2010.  Dell fixing their monitors to use LEDs, 2010, Chevy Volt, 2010, you name it, 2010 is the hot time for whatever new product you have that will not destroy our planet even faster.  Cool.

So what does 2010 hold for the electric vehicle?  Besides the launch of the Volt, it looks like Chrysler is jumping into the hybrid electric game and announcing that by 2010, they will have an electric version of their Voyager MPV.  Word has it that they might also be announcing Other models of electric cars, but for now, the Voyager is their offical baby.  The cool thing about the Voyager MPV Electric is that they claim it will have a 300 mile range, and still have room inside for you, your family and all of your luggage and junk you find the need to tote around.  In other words, it won’t be tiny, it won’t be light, and it will still reap the benefits of electric technology.  Sweet.

Even better news is this:  Chrysler is also working on a competitor to the Chevy Volt by 2012.  Mainly run on electricity, it will also contain a little gasoline engine that kicks in to fill up the batteries anytime they drop below 40%.  How awesome is that.  No matter what, 2010 is going to be a very exciting year and I personally can’t wait.  Now to just get through that darn 2009.
